Plants used in the treatment of diseases in humans and animals are called medicinal plants, and plants used to impart odor and taste are called aromatic plants (1).

About 20 thousand species are used as medicinal plants in the world. There are 500-600 registered medicinal plants in Turkey. Since it is a transition point between European and Asian flora, our country hosts many kinds of plants on its soil. Our flora and fauna rich in biodiversity is home to many endemic medicinal and aromatic plant species.

Medicinal and aromatic plants have wide usage areas in pharmaceutical, chemistry, food, cosmetics, hygiene, livestock and agriculture sectors.  According to its main chemical components, its usage areas and benefits can be gathered in different groups. The main categories of medicinal plants that we process as Sage Botanics are as above.
